23rd April 2024 Day 114

1John 2:1-17

Day One-1 John 2v1-6

John often uses the phrase, ‘my little children’, John loves this church and is closely connected to it, they are young in faith and so open to error and falling spiritually. He wants to help and equip them, they will sin, there is forgiveness and the one who wants to obey truth is showing one of the markers of being a Christian. If they say they love God, then there should be a desire to walk in God’s ways.

Q– How can we help one another in walking obediently with Jesus?

Day Two- 1 John 2v7-11

New, old, what is it! Old in that all that has been taught is based on what they have known of God, new in that this is all fulfilled in Christ, the cross and resurrection has taken place, and the Holy Spirit has come. Another marker of being a Christian is that they will love one another, they are together in Christ.

Q– How can we express love for all who are followers of Christ?

Day Three- 1 John 2v12-14

John expresses his teaching for all the church family, for all those who know Jesus. We have the children, could be young in age or young in faith, the fathers, those who are older in years and faith, and the young men are those who may be more active and need to be aware in their enthusiasm they do not lose sight of Jesus.

Q  Why do we need the Holy Spirit everyday of our lives?

Day Four- 1 John 2v15-17

John is very aware of the pull of the ‘world’. The world with its philosophy, with its outlook that fails to account for the creator God, the world that says, ‘I am the centre of everything’. It lives in the moment, being satisfied with what it can see and have, but the reality is that it isn’t here forever, it is passing and so are they.

Q– What are some of things that we can say of God?
